KENYA EDUCATION NETWORK TRAINING SITE

As the National Research and Education Network for Kenya, the Kenya Education Network (KENET) promotes use of ICT in Teaching, Learning and Research in Higher Education. It aims to set up a cost effective and sustainable private network with high speed access to the global Internet. Further, KENET facilitates electronic communication among students and faculties in member institutions, share learning and teaching resources by collaboration in Research and Development of Educational Content.

In order to achieve the above objectives, KENET organizes various trainings to the member institutions in order to increase capacity in building and mantaining an effecient and effective network.

KENET will conduct a one week training on multimedia content development training workshop to to be held at Kenyatta University as from 16th August to 20th August 2010. Over thirty lecturers from Kenyatta University who will be participating in the Marsabit project are expected to attend this training. Some of the training resources can be downloaded below.

CAMPUS NETWORK DESIGN TRAINING AT USIU, NAIROBI KENYA MARCH 8TH – MARCH 12TH 2010

Introduction

In order for institutions to make effective use of their Internet connections, the network design and  infrastructure must be able to support high speed transmission of packets with no loss. The foundation  of the network must be fast and scalable to allow for growth and to satisfy students' and researchers'  increasing needs for fast and reliable networks.

NSRC CAMPUS NETWORK DESIGN WORKSHOP

KENET (http://kenet.or.ke) in collaboration with the Network Start-up Resource Center (http://www.nsrc.org) at the University of Oregon are organizing a campus networks design and operations training course for network engineers from its member institutions to be held as from March 8th -13th , 2010. The training will take place at United States International University (Nairobi). This will be also the week of the BIG ICANN meeting to be held in Nairobi at KICC.
