KENET CHUI HPC Citation and Acknowledgment Policy

To ensure the sustainability, future expansion, and academic accountability of the KENET CHUI HPC Cluster, all researchers, faculty, and students who utilize our infrastructure are required to acknowledge KENET in their publications, theses, conference papers, and presentations.

Tracking these citations helps us demonstrate research impact to stakeholders and secure continued funding for infrastructure upgrades.

Standard Acknowledgment Templates

Depending on the level of support or resource utilization, please choose and adapt one of the following templates for your "Acknowledgments" section:

Option A: Standard Cluster Usage

"This work was supported in part by the Kenya Education Network (KENET) High-Performance Computing (HPC) initiative. We gratefully acknowledge the computational resources and storage provided by the KENET CHUI HPC Cluster (https://hpc.kenet.or.ke) that made these research results possible."

Option B: Extended Usage with Technical Staff Support

Use this if the KENET HPC team assisted you with workflow optimization, containerization, software compilation, or specialized Slurm configurations.

"The authors acknowledge the Kenya Education Network (KENET) for providing High-Performance Computing resources on the CHUI HPC Cluster. We also express our gratitude to the KENET HPC technical support team for their valuable assistance in workflow optimization and cluster management."

Detailed Technical Environment Reporting

For the sake of scientific reproducibility, researchers are strongly encouraged to specify the core software environment used in their Methodology sections.

Formal BibTeX Reference Citation

If you are using LaTeX or reference management tools (Zotero, EndNote) and wish to formally cite the infrastructure as a reference item, use the following format:

@misc{kenet_chui_hpc,
  author       = "Kenya Education Network",
  title = "KENET CHUI High-Performance Computing Cluster Infrastructure",
  year         = "2026",
  publisher    = "KENET",
  howpublished = "https://hpc.kenet.or.ke"
}

Reporting Your Publications

Once your paper, thesis, or preprint is accepted or published:

  1. Please send a brief notification with the publication title or DOI to the HPC support desk.
  2. Include it in your next resource allocation renewal request.

Thank you for helping us demonstrate the impact of KENET infrastructure on regional scientific advancement!
