Welcome to the KENET training Wiki.

Kenya Education Network (KENET) is a National Research and Education Network that promotes the use of ICT in Teaching, Learning and Research in Higher Education Institutions in Kenya.

KENET aims to interconnect all the Universities, Tertiary and Research Institutions in Kenya by setting up a cost effective and sustainable private network with high speed access to the global Internet.

KENET also facilitates electronic communication among students and faculties in member institutions, share learning and teaching resources by collaboration in Research and Development of Educational content.For any queries email training@kenet.or.ke

KENET Online Courses

KENET has developed online courses to equip the KENET Community with relevant ICT related skills. These are online self-paced courses currently being offered at NO COST to the member community. All the participants require to undertake the courses are, a laptop, stable Internet connection and a commitment to complete the course. Read more [1]

2025 Workshops

The KENET 2025 training calendar is out. This year, KENET plans to hold one in-person training workshop for the purpose of strengthening our member institutions cybersecurity readiness and resilience. This is part of the ICANN Grant Funded Project titled:

The target for this course is technical staff from TVETs/TTCs

2 Network Monitoring and Management 13th May - 17th May, 2024 Network Monitoring and Management Course is designed to impart skills to the ICT staff managing campus networks and network operations centres (NOCs). The target for this course is technical staff drawn from Universities.

3 Scalable Campus Network Design & Operations 22nd July - 26th July, 2024 Scalable Campus Network Course is a course on Switching and Routing concepts designed for ICT teams already operating a small-medium and diverse campus networks and NOC. The target for this course is technical staff from TVETs/TTCs.

2 Network Management and Monitoring 27th,– 31st,July, 2015 Bandwidth management and optimization course (BMO) is designed to provide necessary skills of managing and monitoring bandwidth usage on the campus network. The course will provide skills of bandwidth management principles within a campus environment and development and implementation of bandwidth policies. The training will also provide participants with skills to troubleshoot common campus network problems and how to install and manage network monitoring tools. 3 Cyber Security Training 26th – 30th October 2015 Security within the campus network has become an area that Network and System administrators need to focus on. This workshop will focus on empowering the System/Network administrators in securing the services, applications, servers and campus networks in general.
